System Engineer — Azure, AI & DevOps
Career-changed into tech, two years into a System Engineer role on Azure — now leaning into DevOps, automation, and applied AI. Still figuring a lot of it out, and this is where I write it down as I go.
I changed careers into tech, and I'm two years into a System Engineer role now, working day to day with Azure infrastructure — network design, IP whitelisting, Terraform-managed environments, disaster recovery. I don't write this as someone who's got it all figured out. Most weeks I'm still looking things up, breaking things in a test environment first, and learning from people on my team who've been doing this a lot longer than I have. What got me here wasn't a head start — it was sticking with it long enough to stop feeling like an impostor most days.
Lately I've been pulled toward the DevOps and platform side of the job — automation, CI/CD, pipelines that remove the manual steps I used to do by hand. Outside work I've been curious about applied AI too, not as a buzzword but as something to actually build with. This site is one example: new posts deploy and publish themselves to LinkedIn automatically, no manual copy-paste. See /projects for how it actually works.
I write about whatever I'm currently stuck on or excited about on the log — mostly DevOps, automation, and applied AI, with Azure as the ground I'm standing on. If you're on a similar path — career-changed into tech, moving toward platform/DevOps work, or just curious about the same things — I'd genuinely like to hear from you, see /collaborate.
What I'm working with
